Susanne Hassler is a Freelance Artist currently living in Vienna.
After graduading from Vancouver Film School, where her main focus was Visual Design , Photo Manipulation, and Graphic Design she attended Focal Point a Post Secondary Photography School to study lighting more in depth. She now focuses on artworks and graphic design.

Artist Statement Personas
Personas is the collection of six different core human Personalties.
Through traveling I came across variations of characters over and over again in different corners of the world. Different State of minds, created by the surroundings given. Some more positive, some less. I have been fascinated to portray a character.
With this work I want to showcase each Persona in its absolute state. I choose the Studio, because it was the best way to isolate the subject to bring more attention to their mindsets without any further distraction. Some props where used to empower the characteristic trades.
I see this body of work as Fine Art Project. I started out shooting this as a Fashion Portfolio, but dropped this idea quiet fast, since I want to approach a wider audience. One that ask beyond the beauty of things and into the why.
The Art Direction and Light throughout the whole book is strongly inspired by my admiration for Italian and Dutch baroque painting such as Caravaggio and Rembrandt.
Poetry and Literature are a constant companion of mine and I like to combine my visuals with words, wherever it suits it. The choice to have a quote with each persona's introduction, is my poetic approach outside the photographs created. I want the point the viewer into a direction so he/she can have a deeper experience from this.
All the people which you see, are in all of our individual life. Everyone knows at least one 'Genius', and one 'Devil'. It is about how to see a person in a different light and understanding that we all play a Character on the huge stage of life, that we are on.
